Henry found Charles E.(Edwin) name among a historical sketch of the State Normal School from the class of 1872. He read Edwin's characterization of the faculty to be very interesting. Henry would like Edwin to do the same for Supt. Bolander as he did for Dr. Lucky and other teachers. He is sending Markham letters of various members of the Alumni to get ideas.

Educator, poet, critic. Bland was Poet Laureate of California from 1929 until his death (1931). Educated at College of the Pacific, Stanford, and the University of California (1887-1898). California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
